Ukrainian scouts disabled the Russian Baltic Fleet minesweeper Alexander Obukhov, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence reported on Oct. 7.
The Russian Baltic Fleet minesweeper Alexander Obukhov suffered significant damage while preparing for combat duty in Baltiysk, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) reported.
Water entered the engine due to a gas pipe rupture, causing the ship to malfunction.
The vessel now requires major repairs, which could be costly and difficult due to the rarity of its M-503 engine.
The Obukhov had undergone repairs in St. Petersburg in July.
This is the second Baltic Fleet ship disabled in the last six months, according to HUR.
