Fires break out at two key electrical substations in occupied Crimea

Analysts noted that Saky electrical substation was earlier struck on July 5.

330 kV Zapadno-Krymskaya substation, located in the Saky district, was struck again. Analysts noted that the substation is a critical node in Crimea’s electrical infrastructure, powering the central and western parts of the peninsula, which host a significant number of Russian military facilities.

Commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces Robert “Madyar” Brovdi stated on July 6 that Ukrainian troops struck dozens of energy facilities in Crimea and occupied southern Ukraine causing widespread outages across the annexed peninsula.

“The Crimean power grid has failed after a 38th strike by Ukrainian drone units over a six-day period in July,” Madyar noted. “Occupation authorities in Crimea have acknowledged blackouts across Simferopol and all cities and districts on the Southern Coast of Crimea.”

The commander added that the collapse of the peninsula's energy system was only the beginning of Crimea's liberation.

Russian propaganda outlets reported on July 6 a total power outage in Crimea following renewed Ukrainian strikes. Russian-installed Krymenergo attributed the outage to "technical malfunctions caused by external factors".
