It is noted that compared to 2017, when this holiday was one of the most beloved and was celebrated as a favorite by about half of the population (49%), now only one in five (21%) considers it a favorite.
Thus, the popularity of the March 8 holiday has decreased from 34% to 21% over the past two years (in particular, there has been a decrease from 25% in 2023 to 21% now, in 2024).
At the same time, it is slightly more popular among women (23%) than among men (18%).
For more than 10 years, KIIS has been regularly asking Ukrainians which public holidays are their priorities. Respondents are asked to choose no more than five most important or favorite holidays from a list of holidays.
In Ukraine, as well as in many other countries around the world, March 8 is traditionally celebrated as International Women’s Day. This day used to be a day off, but in recent years, Ukraine has been debating whether to continue to officially celebrate this holiday, as it is associated with the Soviet period.
