Ukrainians who moved to Poland after Russia’s full-scale invasion are increasingly leaving for other European countries, most often Germany and Czechia, RMF24 reported, citing updated Eurostat data on Sept. 5.

The number of Ukrainians with temporary protection status in Poland fell by 8,100 in July. In June, the figure declined by another 6,300.

About 953,000 Ukrainians currently have temporary protection status in Poland. That is fewer than in Germany, which hosts nearly 1.29 million Ukrainian citizens.

The Czech Republic has also become a popular destination. About 381,000 Ukrainians were registered there at the end of June. According to Eurostat, Ukrainians who decide to leave Poland are increasingly choosing the Czech Republic.

Significant numbers of Ukrainians are also living in Spain, Romania and Slovakia.

Amid the migration shifts, Poland has also recorded an increase in hate crimes against Ukrainians. From the beginning of 2026 through July, Ukrainian citizens filed at least 180 reports, about 30% more than during the same period last year.
