National poll shows only quarter optimistic about future, signaling shift in sentiment

The survey revealed that only 25.4% of respondents expect the situation in the country to improve, while 42.2% believe that changes for the better are unlikely to occur or will definitely not occur. The highest share of Ukrainians with positive expectations is in the south of Ukraine (44.1%), while the lowest is in the center (18.4%). A year ago, there were more optimists than pessimists among the respondents (35% and 30%, respectively).
Currently, 56.1% of respondents assess the socio-economic and political situation in Ukraine as bad or very bad. Only 24.6% consider the situation to be quite normal or normal. According to sociologists, this distribution of assessments is almost identical to the results of a survey conducted before Russia’s full-scale invasion. At that time, 52.2% of Ukrainians considered the situation in the country to be bad or very bad, while 31.8% considered it normal or quite normal.
The survey was conducted face-to-face from March 1 to March 15, 2024, with 2,000 respondents aged 18 and older in the government-controlled territory of Ukraine. The sample represents the adult population of Ukraine, with a margin of error of 3.2%.
