European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has arrived in Kyiv with an official visit, according to her X post early on Sept. 20 with photo at the train station.

This is her eighth visit to Ukraine.

The “visit to Kyiv comes as the heating season starts soon, and Russia keeps targeting energy infrastructure. We will help Ukraine in its brave efforts,” she wrote.

“I come here to discuss Europe’s support. From winter preparedness to defense, to accession and progress on the G7 loans.”

Von der Leyen announced the allocation of €160 million ($179 million) to support Ukraine’s energy security ahead of winter and her visit to Kyiv at a joint press conference with the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol, on Sept. 19.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had earlier stressed the importance of talks with European partners, including the EC President.
