The
U.S. Department of Defense announced a $1.2 billion military aid package for
Ukraine on May 9.
According to the message on the Pentagon’s website, the package includes the following items:
- Additional air defense systems and munitions;
- Equipment to integrate Western air defense launchers, missiles, and radars with Ukraine's air defense systems;
- Ammunition for counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems;
- 155mm artillery rounds;
- Commercial satellite imagery services;
- Support for training, maintenance, and sustainment activities.
“The United States will continue to work with its Allies and partners to provide Ukraine with capabilities to meet its immediate battlefield needs and longer-term security assistance requirements,” reads the report.
The U.S. Department of Defense announced a $300 million military aid package for Ukraine on May 3. The package includes howitzers, artillery rounds, and HIMARS ammunition, among other things.
In total, the United States has provided almost $37 billion in military aid to Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022.
