U.S. President Donald Trump told his aides that he wants to announce the deal during his State of the Union address later the same day, according to three agency sources.
However, they noted that the document is not yet signed, and the situation could change.
The White House, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Office, and the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington have not yet responded to requests for comment.
The document was initially scheduled to be signed on Feb. 28, but the ceremony was cancelled after a public dispute between Zelenskyy, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Vice President JD Vance in the Oval Office.
Earlier on March 4, Ukraine's PM Denys Shmyhal also confirmed Ukraine's readiness to sign an agreement with the United States on resource extraction, reiterating that Kyiv seeks “security assurances” from the U.S. side in return.
Subsequently, U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) announced after discussions with Zelenskyy's staff that the minerals deal would be signed shortly.
