Russian strike hits one of Kyiv's most popular bakeries — it reopened the same day

Zavertailo in central Kyiv is known for its pastries and desserts.

"A Russian missile or drone struck nearby, damaging buildings, the street and our outlet," he wrote in the caption. “So morning coffee is a little canceled today. Donate to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. That is still the only reason we are able to open our doors in the morning.”

The bakery reopened by lunchtime the same day, according to the venue's social media stories. Zavertailo noted it was a record turnaround time for reopening after a strike.

The owners were also in the middle of preparing to open a new location at a separate address when the attack occurred.
