“Ukraine is ready to work as productively as possible to free our people from captivity and return the abducted children, as well as to stop the killings and to prepare a meeting of leaders to really end this war,” Zelenskyy wrote after meeting with Umerov and the head of the Presidential Administration, Andriy Yermak.
Umerov reported on implementing the agreements from the second meeting with the Russian team in Istanbul and discussed goals for the upcoming meeting in Turkey with the president.
Yermak, in turn, reported on coordinating Ukrainian diplomatic work with partners in Europe and the United States.
On July 21, Zelenskyy said that the third meeting between the Ukrainian and Russian teams would take place in Turkey on July 23.
Earlier, Independent Türkçe reported that the next round of talks between the Ukrainian and Russian teams could take place on July 23-24 in Istanbul. The meeting will be held “behind closed doors.”
The talks are expected to focus on humanitarian issues, prisoner exchanges, infrastructure, and border area security.
On July 18, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov agreed negotiations with Ukraine needed “more dynamics.”
