Nykyforov added that the Ukrainian president is scheduled to meet Pope Leo XIV and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
On Dec. 8, Zelenskyy met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa to update them on U.S. talks. The president briefed the leaders on the diplomatic track. According to him, they thoroughly discussed work with American partners on steps toward peace, security guarantees and resilience.
Before that, Zelenskyy, along with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, discussed the U.S.-backed peace plan.
Earlier, Ukraine's president said controversial provisions for Ukraine had been removed from the American peace plan — now it has 20 points out of the original 28. However, he added that the Donbas issue remains unresolved in the peace talks.
