Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated the United States on Independence Day, thanking Americans for their support and reaffirming Ukraine's commitment to shared values of freedom and independence on July 4.

In a Telegram post, the Ukrainian president said the day marks the 250th anniversary of "one of humanity's brightest, strongest and most influential dreams — the American dream of an independent, free and prosperous country that protects people's freedom, faith and pursuit of happiness."

Zelenskyy said that dream had endured many trials and that, in the 20th century, the United States helped save the world from tyranny while building alliances and partnerships that brought lasting peace and the opportunity for free development to much of humanity.

He added that America's influence and importance have not diminished in the 21st century, a fact that is especially evident in Ukraine, which "is fighting for its independence, freedom and the right to happiness for our people with the same hopes, the same purpose and the same determination with which Americans won and defended their independence."

Zelenskyy said Ukraine deeply values U.S. support, particularly during Russia's full-scale war. He referenced the transfer of Javelin anti-tank missile systems, which he said "President Trump decided to provide to Ukraine," adding that those weapons, along with other U.S. military assistance helping save Ukrainian lives, demonstrate the strength of "the American spirit, American resolve and American technology."

"When we ask America for Patriots, we believe that the values of respect for life and human dignity that prevailed 250 years ago will prevail today as well. The world needs leadership that guarantees the protection of freedom and life," Zelenskyy wrote.

The Ukrainian president wished President Donald Trump and all Americans success, and expressed hope for productive cooperation with everyone around the world who values the United States.

"May the dreams of free people always triumph over the evil and hatred of those who seek to destroy freedom. America, thank you! I am confident that together we will achieve peace. Happy Independence Day!" he added.
