In the address, the president said the document accounts for recent dramatic changes in the security around the Black and Azov seas.
“Today, I signed a decree enacting the NSDC decision on Ukraine's new Maritime Security Strategy,” said Zelenskyy.
“This document considers the changes and innovations in security that we have implemented, particularly in the Black Sea, in the development of our [naval] forces.”
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine aims to implement the strategy in collaboration with its international partners. He will discuss the details with them in the near future.
Last year, NSDC’s then-Secretary Oleksiy Danilov stated that the strategy's goal is to make Ukraine a capable maritime state. Under the strategy, Ukraine seeks to enhance its capabilities to deter aggression at sea and build a balanced navy.
