Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with government officials to address lapses in mobile connectivity during regular power outages across the country, the president said in his July 3 evening address.

Zelenskyy met with PM Denys Shmyhal, Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, and Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko.

He instructed Fedorov to examine how Ukrainian mobile operators have prepared for rolling blackouts to ensure their networks’ stability and identify those “not complying” with government-mandated guidelines on backup power sources.

Zelenskyy added that specific steps are being taken regarding new programs aimed at alleviating the acute shortage of power generation Ukraine faced since mid-May.

“Right now, we need to maximize our ability to ensure power generation by creating new decentralized generation systems, and there will be financial resources for this,” he said.

“Government officials will present all specifics in the near future.”
