Zelenskyy tells MPs ceasefire possibly by November if security guarantees offered

Vasylevska-Smahliuk, who also sits on the parliamentary Finance Committee, said much of the meeting focused on prospects for ending active fighting.

“We now have an advantage on the front that we can use,” she said in a Telegram post.

“The main goal is to prevent Russia from deceiving us and, after a short pause, launching new operations or a new offensive.”

She added that Zelenskyy said Europe was expected to name an official to help mediate a peace process and that a U.S. delegation is due to arrive in Ukraine soon.

The Telegraph recently reported that Ukraine has been able to neutralize Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s advantage in manpower on the front lines, citing the use of unmanned systems. The story said unmanned aerial, ground, surface, and underwater vehicles have given Kyiv greater operational reach.

The Institute for the Study of War said in a May 20 report that Ukraine’s forces are regaining tactical initiative in multiple sectors after a series of counteroffensives and because of increased losses among Russian troops. Ukrainian forces have registered their biggest battlefield gains since the Kursk operation in August 2024, the report said.
