Despite the rapidly shifting security situation in the Middle East, the next round of trilateral Ukraine–U.S.–Russia talks will take place on March 5–9, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on March 2.

Speaking to reporters in Kyiv, the president added that the venue might change, given that the meeting was provisionally supposed to take place in the UAE.

“We are ready for talks; We do not link these events [the escalation in the Persian Gulf],” Noviny.LIVE quoted Zelenskyy.

“The talks should take place March 5 to 9.”

He said the meeting had been planned for Abu Dhabi at Washington’s, but the location could be moved because of the recent events.

“We are ready for another country, another city; we are ready to meet in Switzerland, and we are ready to meet, by the way, in Turkey,” Zelenskyy added.

“I said that Turkey and Switzerland were [suitable] venues, as were the UAE. So we are ready to meet. We’ll see what progress can be made.”

The previous round of trilateral talks in Geneva concluded Feb. 18. Zelenskyy said those negotiations were difficult and that the only progress had been on minor technical issues of monitoring a potential ceasefire.
