Ukrainian specialists helped defend Persian Gulf states
during the Iran war by shooting down Shahed
kamikaze drones, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on April 10, as reported
by AP.
The AP noted it was the first time Zelenskyy publicly acknowledged direct Ukrainian involvement that goes beyond technology sharing or training.
“This was not about a training mission or exercises, but about support in building a modern air defense system that can actually work,” the reported quoted the president.
He did not specify in which countries the Ukrainian forces operated.
On March 10, Zelenskyy said Ukraine had sent three
teams of experts to the Middle East to help Persian Gulf countries counter
Iranian drones. On March 20 he said 228 Ukrainian experts were then in
the region.
