Ukraine will never recognize occupied territories as Russian — Volodymyr Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy affirmed that Ukraine will not violate its Constitution, emphasizing the country’s commitment to defend its sovereignty, independence, and land.

"It’s very difficult to fight such an enemy, but we are fighting for our independence and will not recognize any territories occupied by Russia," he said.

Zelenskyy also stressed that Ukraine will ensure Russia's crimes are never forgotten.

On March 10, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio suggested that Ukraine might need to cede territory in any agreement with Russia.

Following a NATO defense ministers’ meeting, U.S. Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth argued that Ukraine’s failure to return to pre-2014 borders was not a concession to Vladimir Putin but a matter of realism.

Earlier, on Feb. 23, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine would not accept unfavorable agreements and would refuse to sign any peace deal made behind its back by the U.S. or other partners.

On March 11, Ukrainian and U.S. representatives met in Jeddah. Ukraine’s delegation included Andriy Yermak, head of the Presidential Office, Andrii Sybiha, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Rustem Umerov, Minister of Defense. U.S. officials present were Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Michael Volz.

The U.S. offered Ukraine a 30-day ceasefire, which Zelenskyy confirmed Ukraine is ready to consider. Rubio added that the U.S. would relay the offer to Russia "through numerous channels."
