Responding to a growing threat of Russia re-invading northern
Ukraine from Belarusian
territory, Kyiv is deploying additional forces to the area, President
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on May 20.
Zelenskyy made the statement after a meeting with senior military and intelligence services commanders.
“From there the Russians are considering scenarios for additional attacks on Ukraine — against the northern regions, our Chernihiv–Kyiv direction,” Zelenskyy said in a Telegram post.
“Of course, we are already working to strengthen our defense on that front. Relevant orders have been given to the military command, and we are also taking preventive.
