The president provided a summary of his meeting with senior military command, which was called to analyze Ukraine’s defense capabilities in light of recently announced military aid packages from Kyiv’s international partners.
“Today, there were some special issues of our national resilience discussed at the meeting,” said Zelenskyy.
“We are working through all possible scenarios to protect Ukraine. The basis scenario is to maintain our positions and ensure conditions for effective diplomacy to end this war with a dignified peace as soon as possible. We need peace, true peace—honest and genuine—not endless war.”
He reiterated that Ukraine needs tangible security guarantees, noting that their absence 11 years ago allowed Russia to begin the war with the annexation of Crimea and invasion of Donbas.
“Currently, due to the lack of solid security guarantees, Russia keeps this war going; the entire world sees and acknowledges this,” the president added.
Zelenskyy stated that if Ukraine, Europe, and the United States work together, they can ensure decades of peace. However, this requires being constructive and collaborative — "complementing each other's proposals and accelerating diplomacy to end the war."
Recent U.S. media reports suggested that the United States is now considering halting all military aid to Ukraine, days after Zelenskyy’s contentious meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance in the Oval Office on Feb. 28.
