Ukraine security guarantees
The U.S. and European countries are urgently developing security guarantees for Ukraine to lay the groundwork for a possible meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin.
According to the WSJ, U.S. President Donald Trump and European leaders agreed that Secretary of State Marco Rubio will lead a special task force. It will include national security advisers and NATO representatives tasked with preparing a draft of security guarantees for Ukraine.
After Zelenskyy and European leaders met with Trump in the U.S., Russian officials began publicly rejecting Europe’s proposals for security guarantees for Ukraine as part of a potential peace agreement, according to a report by the Institute for the Study of War.
