Businesses request extensions on draft deferment applications for employees
Ukraine's European Business Association (EBA) has requested the Cabinet to extend the current employee mobilization deferments by two months and move the deadline for new applications to April 30.
In a statement published on Jan. 29, the EBA said that this request is related to the December 2024 cyberattack on Ukraine’s state registry systems. As it took over a month to restore the registries, companies were unable to submit new applications for draft deferment for their critically important employees.
“Additionally, the halt in operations of the registers led to significant delays in the approval of sectoral and regional [deferment] criteria by most government bodies," the association stated.
This situation has resulted in a backlog of applications for critical employee status at the ministerial and local government levels. The EBA forecasts that by Feb. 28, the government will not be able to process all applications and grant the deferments needed to keep key enterprises operational.
“This is why the business community is asking for a two-month extension of current deferment and a shift in renewal applications deadline to April 30,” the message added.
“This extension would help prevent overloading the limited capacities of the current deferment system and support stable economic operations in Ukraine.”
Starting Dec. 1, 2024, the government introduced a new draft deferment procedure, moving the entire process online.
