Russian forces attacked production facilities operated by Ukrnafta, deploying drones and causing critical damage, the head of Ukraine’s Naftogaz Group Serhii Koretskyi wrote on Dec. 24.

Russia has been deliberately targeting oil and gas infrastructure for the second day in a row.

“In total, nearly 100 Shahed drones have been used against Ukrnafta’s production facilities over the past two days,” Koretskyi said.

The attacks caused critical destruction, forcing equipment to shut down.

“Emergency responders and company specialists are working to eliminate the consequences of the strikes," he added.

"Restoration will begin immediately after.”

On the night of Dec. 23, Russian forces struck Ukrnafta production sites, halting their operations. No casualties were reported, but significant damage was recorded, and facilities were taken offline.

Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said that Russia launched more than 600 drones and dozens of missiles in a mass attack across Ukraine.

Ukraine’s Energy Ministry confirmed that energy infrastructure was the primary target, prompting emergency power outages in multiple oblasts.

On Dec. 9, Russian drones also attacked Naftogaz infrastructure facilities.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
