Canada greenlights Ukrainian egg exports
Canada has opened its market to Ukrainian producers of table eggs, Ukraine's Poultry Farmers Association reported on April 29.
Ukraine’s State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection has agreed on the format of the international certificate for exporting table eggs to Canada.
Additional information is available on the Service’s website regarding Ukrainian producers’ compliance with Canadian regulations for both table eggs and egg products, specifically in:
– storage and transportation of eggs and egg products
– eggs and egg products labeling
– salmonella control program — egg products
– salmonella control program — table eggs
– egg grading requirements
– identification standards.
It is noted that egg exports to Canada are only possible through cooperation with licensed Canadian importers who hold a valid licence of Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR).
In 2024, Canada had already opened its market to Ukrainian egg products.
As previously reported, Ukraine’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food recorded a decrease in chicken egg prices for the first time since early February.
Meanwhile, US officials are searching globally for sufficient egg supplies to address a shortage that has led to surging prices, prompting grocery stores to limit customer purchases and restaurants to add price markups.
Earlier, Trump administration Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins even suggested the US citizens keep chickens in their yards to cope with the spike in egg prices.
