Spain and UK drive Ukraine's egg exports to record seven-year high

Ukrainian egg producers increased their export volume by 20.1% to a seven-year record of 229.18 million units this May compared to May 2025, Ukraine's Union of Poultry Breeders reported on June 17.
The union cited data from the State Customs Service.
In May, the monetary value of egg exports grew by 39.2% compared to May 2025, reaching $23.9 million.
Over the first five months of 2026, egg exports increased by 22% compared to the same period in 2025, totaling 1.01 billion units. In monetary terms, exports surged by 64% to $112.5 million.
The primary buyers of Ukrainian eggs from January through May 2026 were Spain (28.1%), the United Kingdom (14.0%), Poland (9.4%), and Israel (7.3%). The European Union accounted for 75% of the total export share.
Ukrainian egg producers increased exports by 65.6% to 2.05 billion units in 2025 compared to 2024. During that period, the monetary value of egg exports grew 2.8 times, reaching $201.9 million.
The main buyers of Ukrainian eggs in 2025 were Spain (16.4%), the UK (11.9%), Czechia (10.3%), Poland (10.0%), Croatia (8.7%), and Israel (7.8%).
In January 2026, Ukraine signed an agreement with the UK to extend trade liberalization for agricultural products.
Under the agreement, both parties will continue to apply zero import duties on eggs and poultry meat from March 31, 2026, until March 31, 2028.
