Ukraine doubles daily gas import capacity from Poland
Ukraine and Poland have agreed to extend the temporary increase of guaranteed natural gas import capacity from Poland to Ukraine until September 2026, Energy Ministry reported on July 1.
Starting in August 2025, the guaranteed capacity for gas imports will remain at 12.4 million cubic meters per day — nearly double the previous level.
This decision resulted from negotiations between the gas transmission system operators of both countries — Gaz-System (Poland) and GTS (Ukraine).
“The Polish gas import route is gradually strengthening and is crucial for ensuring natural gas supplies to Ukraine," Deputy Energy Minister Mykola Kolisnyk said.
"Moreover, it provides access to new resource sources, namely, LNG terminals in Poland and Lithuania, which significantly expands supply options and enhances the country’s energy security.”
Ukraine may also begin importing gas through another route — the Trans-Balkan corridor.
Earlier, the Ukrainian GTS and Poland’s Gaz-System agreed to extend the guaranteed capacity for gas entry into Ukraine until Oct. 1, 2026.
The guaranteed volume was set at 6 million cubic meters (at 0°C) and 6.4 million cubic meters (at +20°C), GTS reported then.
