Russian attacks have damaged or destroyed 686 port facilities and 24,000 railway infrastructure objects in Ukraine since 2022, Minister for Restoration Oleksii Kuleba said, Ukrinform reported on Feb. 12.
He detailed the scale of the destruction speaking at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Transport and Infrastructure.
686 port infrastructure objects damaged or destroyed.
150 civilian vessels hit.
224 civilian casualties, including foreign nationals.
Railway Sector
The enemy has launched over 4,700 strikes on Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) since February 2022, damaging nearly 24,000 objects.
Since the beginning of 2025 alone, 266 strikes on rolling stock and railway facilities have been recorded.
Despite the attacks, Kuleba highlighted key achievements in the transport sector:
Maritime Corridor: 173 million tons of cargo have been transported via the sea corridor.
Passenger Traffic: International connections with the EU have grown by 20%.
Modernization: Construction has begun on the first Chop-Uzhhorod European-gauge railway, and an agreement was signed with Alstom (France) to supply 55 electric locomotives.
The report comes just day before Russian terrorists launched another attack on a port in Odesa Oblast (overnight on Feb. 13). The strike killed one person, injured others, and damaged warehouses and cargo wagons.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
