Medvedev posts doctored image with Russian flag in Kyiv
Dmitry Medvedev, former president and current deputy chair of Russia's Security Council, appeared to start celebrating Russia Day early on June 12 by sharing a photoshopped image on social media.
The post came as Ukrainian forces made advances on several fronts, while Russian invaders struggled to capture nothing more than the ruins of Bakhmut recently. Nonetheless, Medvedev still appears to believe there is a chance that Russian invasion forces will one day capture Kyiv.
Medvedev's image depicted Ukraine's flag in Kyiv's Independence Square replaced with the Russian tricolor, implying Russia still has hopes of capturing the Ukrainian capital city. In the caption, he suggested renaming Maidan Nezalezhnosti to "Russia Square'' if this occurred.
However, with little for Russian forces to brag about militarily besides Bakhmut, Medvedev was forced to resort to posting a poorly doctored photoshop job on social media on the occasion of Russia Day.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
