Submarine commander implicated in war crimes against Ukraine shot dead
A former submarine commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Sergey Rzhytsky, who was allegedly responsible for firing cruise missiles at civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, was shot dead on July 10 during a morning jog in a Krasnodar park.
"Around six in the morning, seven shots were fired at (Rzhytsky) from a Makarov pistol," the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine reported.
“As a result of gunshot wounds, Rzytsky died on the spot. Due to heavy rain, the park was deserted, so there are no witnesses who could provide details or identify the attacker.”
Rzytsky apparently increased the probability of his liquidation even more by publishing his jogging routes publicly online.
Rzytsky recently held the position of head of the city's mobilization department in Krasnodar, As such, Russian citizens may have their own motives for his death.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
