Russia has recently deployed several military units to Belarus, including the 1st Guards Tank Army, the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defense reported in an intelligence update on Twitter on Dec. 27.

The British MoD believes that the unit was likely only training in Belarus, and lacks the proper support to make the unit combat-ready.

Additionally, the MoD noted that fighting has for the past two days been focused on the Donbas hotspots of Bakhmut and Svatovo.

"Russia continues to initiate frequent small-scale assaults in these areas, although little territory has changed hands," the intelligence reported.

At the beginning of December, UK intelligence reported that the 1st GuardTank Army would hold the line at Svatovo. According to the MoD, this unit suffered heavy losses during the beginning of the full-scale war as well as during the Russian retreat from Kharkiv Oblast in September.
