Ukraine downs 24 of 41 Russian drones in overnight attack — Air Force
Ukrainian defense forces shot down 24 of 41 Russian drones, launched overnight, the Air Force reported on June 26.
Russia used 41 Shahed type strike UAVs and other decoy drones launched from various directions, including Bryansk, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as Hvardiiske in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
“The frontline areas of Donetsk and Kharkiv oblasts were the primary targets,” the military wrote.
The air assault was repelled by anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare (EW) teams, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
As of 08:00, Ukrainian air defense neutralized 24 enemy drones — including Shaheds and other types — over eastern, southern, and northern oblasts.
“Eight were destroyed by fire arms, and 16 were suppressed or lost due to electronic warfare,” the Air Force added.
Despite these efforts, enemy UAV strikes were recorded in seven locations across the country overnight.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
