Russia launches 161 drones and missile at Ukraine; strikes hit Kyiv high-rise

Russian forces attacked Ukraine with an S8000 Banderol missile and 161 strike and decoy drones overnight, the Ukrainian Air Force reported on Sept. 11.
Starting at 6 p.m. on Sept. 10, Russian troops launched the missile alongside 161 uncrewed aerial vehicles, including Shahed-type one-way attack drones (with jet-powered variants among them), Gerbera drones, and Parodiya decoy imitators.
As of 8 a.m., air defense units intercepted or neutralized 138 enemy drones. Impacts were confirmed across 19 separate locations, with falling intercepted wreckage and debris recorded at three additional sites.
The Air Force cautioned that the Russian air assault remained active into the morning hours of Sept. 11, with enemy strike drones still operating in Ukrainian airspace.
Overnight, drone strikes hit Kyiv, igniting a structural blaze across a nine-story residential apartment building in the capital's Dniprovskyi district. At least seven civilians sustained injuries.
Kyiv Oblast Military Administration also reported blazes breaking out at warehouse complexes in Bucha district following drone strikes and falling debris.
Explosions and air defense engagements were also reported across Zaporizhzhya, Sumy, and several other oblasts.
