Belarus’ Lukashenko talks about ‘draw’ in Russo-Ukrainian war
Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko suggested that Russia's war against Ukraine could end in a "draw" and reiterated his call for immediate negotiations.
He made these remarks on Oct. 31, at a security conference in Minsk, according to the Russian propaganda outlet Interfax.
“My recent contacts with reasonable representatives of the 'civilized West' indicate that there is a certain shift,” said Lukashenko.
“The West has finally realized that negotiations are necessary in Ukraine. A draw is possible, right now. I'm speaking in sports terms.”
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed his disapproval of Lukashenko's comments, stating that a "draw" is not acceptable to Russia.
“A draw does not exactly reflect the need to reliably ensure the interests of each side, including on a pan-continental scale," Lavrov responded to Lukashenko's remarks.
On Oct. 25, Lukashenko had claimed that Russia allegedly never intended to seize Ukraine.
