Russia is fully responsible for the drone incident in Galati, which was a direct result of its aggression against Ukraine, and will face "proportional measures" in response, Romanian President Nicușor Dan wrote on May 29.

The president highlighted that the full responsibility for the incident lies entirely with Russia.

He emphasized that the event in Galati is a direct consequence of Russian aggression against Ukraine, as well as Moscow's irresponsible and indiscriminate use of weapons near NATO borders and its systematic disregard for international law.

"There is absolutely no ambiguity regarding the author and the cause of this aggression," Dan underscored.

He added that he convened a meeting of the National Defense Supreme Council for 11 a.m. to discuss the aftermath of the incident. The president also noted that Romania is "preparing proportional measures" against Russia in response.

On the night of May 29, a UAV crashed onto the roof of an apartment building in the Romanian city of Galati, sparking a fire in a 10th-floor apartment. There were no fatalities, but two people were injured.

Romanian Defense Ministry confirmed that the drone that struck the high-rise overnight was a Russian Geran-2 UAV.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
