Electrical substations and power plants targeted in coordinated Crimea raid - video

Ukrainian strike drones hit an electrical substation in Alushta and triggered secondary explosions near the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant in a sweeping assault across temporarily occupied Crimea, local monitoring groups reported on July 20.
According to the local Telegram channel Krymsky Veter (Crimean Wind), residents in Alushta reported hearing a massive explosion followed by immediate, partial power outages across the city.
Simultaneous drone strikes and subsequent disruptions to local power grids were documented in temporarily occupied Yalta, while additional blasts reverberated across Feodosia, Kerch, and the immediate perimeter of the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant.
As of July 20 morning, occupation administrators have withheld official statements detailing the precise extent of the infrastructural damage or casualties.
Broader campaign aims to "switch off" Crimea
The overnight operation comes on the heels of major tactical updates shared by Ukraine's newly formed Unmanned Systems Forces (USF):
Mass campaign figures: USF Commander Robert "Magyar" Brovdi disclosed that in parallel operations on the night of July 19, Ukrainian drone units successfully engaged 59 different targets.
Maritime disruptions:
Brovdi noted that between July 1 and July 19, the targeted degradation campaigns — codenamed "MoLoChKa" and "Crimean Switch Off" — have systematically struck a total of 176 shadow-fleet logistical vessels and 96 separate power substations.
