At least 22 persons killed as Hamas launches surprise massive attack on Israel
Israel underwent massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip on the morning of Oct. 7, as the Palestinian group Hamas declared the start of a new large-scale terrorist attack against Israel.
At least 22 people have been reported dead, and at least 545 others injured due to the extensive rocket barrage launched from Gaza into Israel, CNN reported, citing Israeli rescue services.
In a rare public statement, Mohammed Deif, the leader of the terrorist group Hamas’ military wing, announced that the armed group had initiated a new operation against Israel.
There has also been an unprecedented number of reports of Palestinian militants infiltrating southern Israel. The Israeli authorities have instructed residents of the region to stay at home.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant have convened an emergency meeting with Israel’s military leadership to discuss the situation.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have announced a “state of war” alert in anticipation of potential infiltration by Hamas militants into the country and rocket attacks.
“The Israel Defense Forces will protect Israeli civilians, and the terrorist organization Hamas will pay a heavy price for its actions,” the IDF said.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
