Ukrainian drones spark massive fire at Russian oil export hub

Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) drones attacked the Samara linear production and dispatch station in Prosvet, Samara Oblast, Russia, where formation of the Urals export oil blend is being ensured, sources in the SBU told NV on April 21.
A massive fire broke out at the facility as a result of the strike, the officers clarified.
Samara station plays an important role in the operation of the Russian oil infrastructure, as it is exactly where oil from different fields is blended to create the Urals export blend, NV sources emphasized.
Five crude oil tanks, each with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters, were damaged during the attack, preliminary reports indicated.
"Hitting these nodal stations directly reduces Russia's ability to form export batches of oil and fulfill contractual obligations," an informed SBU source underscored.
"The balance of raw materials is disrupted, logistics and storage costs rise, and risks of supply disruptions emerge."
Russia may lose a portion of its oil sales profits, which it uses to finance the war against Ukraine, as a result, according to the source.
Exilenova+ monitoring Telegram channel wrote about a drone attack on Russia's Samara Oblast, noting that the Novokuibyshevsk and Syzran oil refineries came under attack on April 18.
