Drones attacked Ilsky Oil Refinery in Russia overnight, with local residents capturing the exact moment of impact from several kilometers away, Astra Telegram channel reported on June 2.
As of Astra's calculations, the strike marks at least the 16th attack on the Ilsky refinery since the start of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.
Krasnodar Krai residents reported hearing multiple explosions and seeing a massive fire overnight on June 2. Astra geolocated eyewitness photos of the blaze, concluding that the Ilsky Oil Refinery was actively burning following a strike. The regional operational headquarters later confirmed the incident.
Ilsky Oil Refinery serves as one of the leading oil processing enterprises in Russia's Southern Federal District. Its primary processing units boast a total design capacity of approximately 6.6 million tons of oil per year.
