Numerous explosions were heard in Russia’s Saratov overnight, local residents reported drone attack on an oil refinery, Astra Telegram channel wrote on Oct. 16.

Saratov’s local airport has limited operations — planes are not arriving or departing due to the UAV threat.

Monitoring channel Krymskyi Veter (Crimean Wind) wrote that, according to locals, the oil refinery was hit and a fire has started.

On Sept. 20, General Staff reported that Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Saratov oil refinery, which accounts for roughly 2.54% of Russia’s total oil refining capacity — more than 7 million tons per year.

Reuters wrote that in September, following Ukrainian drone attacks, Russian exports of petroleum products fell 17.1% compared with August, totaling 7.58 million tons.
