Escalation in Donbas as Russian proxy forces fire on Ukrainian positions with tanks, artillery, mortars

Russian proxy forces have fired 40 times at Ukrainian positions in the Joint Forces Operation zone in the Donbas since the beginning of the day on Feb. 17, leaving one soldier wounded.

According to the press center of the JFO, Russian proxies fired 32 shells at the town of Stanytsia Luhanska using 122 mm heavy artillery weapons. One of the shells hit a kindergarten, which was in use at the time. Utility infrastructure was also damaged, resulting in electricity outages for half the town.

According to early reports, as a result of the shelling, three employees of the kindergarten received concussions. Joint Forces servicemen promptly evacuated the children and teachers to a nearby shelter.

On the outskirts of Novotoshkovske, enemy troops opened fire three times with 122 mm artillery, 120 mm mortars, and mounted anti-tank grenade launchers.

Near Vodiane, Ukrainian positions came under fire from 120 mm mortars, tripod-mounted man-portable antitank guns, and grenade launchers.

The proxies also fired in the direction of Trudivske, using 82 mm mortars.

Near Starohnativka, shelling from 120 and 82 mm caliber mortars, grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, and small arms was recorded.

In the vicinity of ​​Staryi Aydar and Maryinka, 120 mm mortars were fired.

Near Pivdenne and Mayorsk the were attacks using 82 mm mortars and grenade launchers.

Not far from Lobacheve Russian proxy forces attacked with 82 mm mortars.

As a result of the shelling, one soldier of the Joint Forces was wounded and hospitalized. His condition is moderately severe.
