EU ambassadors have approved the bloc’s 16th sanctions package against Russia since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Radio Free Europe editor Rikard Jozwiak reported on Feb. 19.

This marks another step in the bloc’s efforts to pressure the Kremlin over its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The new measures come amid growing warnings from Western leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump, about the economic consequences for Moscow if it refuses to negotiate.

"It was officially approved by the EU foreign ministers on Feb. 17," Jozwiak clarified on his X social media account.
