Explosions were reported overnight in Russia’s Belgorod Oblast, caused by a mass drone attack and air defense activity, local channels wrote on Feb. 2.
Stary Oskol residents heard at least six loud explosions in the northern and northeastern parts of the city. Russians also reported a series of bright flashes in the sky.
No official reports were released regarding the attack so far.
On Jan. 25, authorities reported damage to critical infrastructure facilities in Belgorod. Regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov described that strike as the “most mass” since the war outbreak.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
