The government has clarified the list of categories of IDPs who will receive accommodation allowances and extended the deadline for submitting applications for IDP payments, stated Ministry of Social Policy on March 22.

Starting from March 1, payment of accommodation allowance for IDPs was extended for another 6 months for certain categories of IDPs who have been receiving it for one to two years (at least 8 months).

Payments were extended primarily for people who are unable to work, take care for children, seriously ill or disabled persons, have no income or low income.

Additionally, the government adopted a resolution developed by the Ministry of Social Policy and clarified the list of IDPs who will be eligible to receive payments for another 6 months.

In particular, in order to avoid misinterpretations, the resolution clearly stipulates that, among others, the following categories of people are entitled to the extension of assistance for another 6 months:

  • people with severe illnesses who have not been diagnosed with a disability (and the families in which such persons live)
  • children placed in the family of a foster caregiver; foster caregivers; children temporarily placed in the family of relatives, friends, foster families, or family-type children's homes

If the average monthly total income per recipient in the family is less than UAH 9444 ($242), than they can get this allowance too if:

  • they take care for a child under 3 years of age or a child in need of care under 6 years of age
  • families with children under 18 and/or under 23 who are full-time or dual enrollment students in vocational, professional, higher education institutions
  • they are people who provide social services on a non-professional basis
  • they are students who apply independently, under the age of 23
  • they are people with disabilities of the third group
  • or they are pensioner couples

People older than 55 were also granted the right to extend the allowance for an additional 6 months.

The deadline for submitting applications for IDP benefits has been extended.

Period for submitting applications for reassignment of payments to IDPs has also been extended until April 30.

Allowances for internally displaced people are:

  • for people with disabilities and children - UAH 3000 ($77)
  • for other people - UAH 2000($51)
