Aeroflot cancels over 50 flights in one day after hacker attack — Russian media

Aeroflot, the largest airline in Russia, canceled 22 flights from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport and 31 incoming flights to the capital, Russian Interfax propaganda outlet wrote on July 29.

The cancellations affected both Aeroflot’s own flights and those operated jointly with its Rossiya subsidiary airline.

Aeroflot’s press service stated that by 10:00 a.m. MSK, the company had carried out “targeted cancellations,” after which its flight program stabilized. The airline claimed it intended to carry out 93% of its scheduled flights from and to Moscow on July 29.

On the morning of July 28, Aeroflot canceled 42 flights due to a failure in its information systems. The company’s press service reported the cancellation of flights from Sheremetyevo Airport, including to Yekaterinburg, Minsk, and Sa Petersburg.

By noon on July 28, Aeroflot announced the cancellation of 49 roundtrip flights between Moscow and various Russian cities, as well as to Yerevan, Minsk, and Astana. Flights operated by Rossiya, which is part of the same airline group, were also affected. In addition, at least eight roundtrip flights were delayed.

Belarusian hacker groups Silent Crow and Cyber Partisans BY claimed responsibility for the cyberattack on Aeroflot.
