High-scoring students to receive tuition grants through Diia app
Ukrainian students who get high marks on the National Multicurricular Test (NMT) will be eligible for university tuition grants, Ukraine’s Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced on July 18.
According to Fedorov, students who score over 150 points on the NMT in any two subjects will receive a grant of UAH 15,000 ($362), while those who score over 170 points will receive UAH 25,000 ($603). The funds will be distributed to students through the Diia e-governance app.
The minister clarified this is a new program and does not change the existing state-funded scholarship system.
“Students enrolled through state-funded scholarship will continue to receive full state funding,” Fedorov added.
“This new system will encourage competition among educational institutions. More students mean a larger budget, which will motivate institutions to improve learning conditions, foster professional development for teachers, and create additional value for applicants.”
On April 23, the Ukrainian parliament passed a higher education reform bill, aiming to bring Ukraine’s university education in line with existing EU standards.
