IAEA to ensure safety at expanded Khmelnytskyi NPP
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will serve as the guarantor of nuclear safety at the completion of new power units at the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant, Presidential Office wrote on July 10.
The agreement was reached at a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi on the sidelines of the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome.
As part of the meeting, Ukraine’s Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko and Rafael Grossi signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the IAEA and the Government of Ukraine on cooperation in support of Ukraine’s energy recovery.
According to the document, the IAEA will monitor compliance with international nuclear safety standards during the construction of additional reactor units at the Khmelnytskyi NPP.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
