Russian forces shell residential neighborhoods in Kherson

The Russian forces launched a deadly artillery attack on residential areas in Kherson, killing one person and injuring three others, local Military Administration reported on May 19.

The strike directly hit a house where a 75-year-old woman was staying. She died immediately on the spot.

A 76-year-old man and two 53-year-old women were hospitalized with blast injuries and closed head trauma. Authorities confirmed that Russian forces deliberately targeted civilian neighborhood using artillery. Private homes and apartment buildings were damaged.

The Russian troops shelled 37 settlements across Oblast that day, Kherson governor Oleksandr Produkin said. Two people were killed and six others injured. The shelling damaged a factory, a cell tower, two apartment blocks, 17 private houses, a garage, and several cars.

Earlier that day, Ukrainian Railways reported that a Russian strike hit railway infrastructure in Kherson, damaging a passenger locomotive and the city’s train station building.
