Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups attempted to advance towards Kherson but were quickly detected and eliminated by Ukrainian Defense Forces, Kherson governor Oleksandr Prokudin reported on Dec. 20.

The city of Kherson has been under heavy shelling from the temporarily Russian-occupied left bank of the Dnipro River since the early hours of Dec. 20.

Residential areas, critical infrastructure, and social facilities were hit, with multiple casualties reported.

“Difficult days lie ahead," Prokudin wrote.

"The tense situation will persist throughout the holidays, so please avoid going outside unless absolutely necessary.”

Emergency responders and medical teams are working on-site to address the attacks' aftermath.

Roman Mrochko, the head of the city's military administration, also reported a large-scale artillery bombardment in Kherson earlier on Dec. 20, indicating at least six people injured in his report.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
