An unidentified gunman attempted to assassinate Andrey Cherezov, head of a Russian drone development company, in Tula overnight, leaving him in critical condition, security-linked Telegram channel 112 wrote on July 29.

Overnight, Cherezov, director of the Russian Air Transport Laboratory, arrived home, where a hitman ambushed him on the landing before his apartment entrance and fired three shots, 112 reported. Cherezov's wife heard the commotion, opened the door, and discovered her bloodied husband. The attacker managed to flee the scene.

The regional Investigative Committee reported that the entrepreneur was rushed to the hospital in grave condition. Law enforcement agencies opened a criminal case into attempted murder.

The Russian Air Transport Laboratory LLC was registered in Tula in 2022 to carry out "scientific research and development in natural and technical sciences," Astra reported.

Andrey Cherezov serves as its director and sole owner.
