Latvia to provide almost $13 million to Ukraine in next two years for infrastructure development
Latvia will provide Ukraine with €6 million ($6.4 million) for infrastructure development in both 2024 and 2025, the government announced on May 22.
The announcement was made following the meeting of Ukraine’s Community Development Ministry and a Latvian delegation headed by Economy Minister Viktors Valainis.
The parties discussed the supply chain, ensuring favorable financial and economic conditions, and bolstering economic cooperation between the countries.
"Latvia will allocate 6 million euros to support Ukraine’s infrastructure in Ukraine – the same amount is designed for 2025 as well" the government announced on its website, citing comments from the Latvian delegation.
Latvia is interested in strengthening economic ties — in particular, in the field of substituting exports of Russian agricultural products, and developing export routes.
The parties also discussed expanded cooperation in railway transport and the use of the eCherga service (border-crossing booking service for international carriers).
Latvia's AirBaltic airline is ready to start operations in Ukraine when air traffic is restored as well, the Latvian delegation assured.
